Nursery Deadline. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
For those Pacific Northwest nursery growers, the deadline is quickly approaching for Multi-Peril Crop Insurance according to Jo Lynne Seufer with USDA's Risk Management.
SEUFER: Our nursery policy is actually the first policy to be renewed and or obtained each crop year. We go through a phase of crop years and fall crops of course come after nursery crops but nursery is primarily the first crop that we file for actuarial. It's the first one we have for 2009.
So when is the deadline?
SEUFER: Thursday, May 1 is the final date to renew current policies on the 2009 Nursery Multi-Peril Crop insurance throughout all of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington State. May 1 also includes the final date to obtain Pilot Nursery Growers Price Endorsement. It's specifically only for nursery growers only in Oregon and Washington.
Recent nursery insurance program improvements provide growers the flexibility to obtain a valuable risk management tool that specifically fits their business plan's needs. Seufer says there is help available online.
SEUFER: That tool will also help any producers wanting to find agents providing services in alternative languages such as Spanish speaking agents.
That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
