Washington Ag November 5, 2007 The annual convention of the Washington State Farm Bureau is coming up next week in Spokane at the DoubleTree City Center Hotel and the Convention Center. Farm Bureau Director of Organization Gary Joiner, says there may be a record attendance and he thinks the topics being addressed at break out sessions may be part of the reason.
Joiner: "We are going to be doing a session on animal identification. The new state director of the animal id program will be addressing livestock produces that have interest in this issue giving them an update of where that is. We are going to be talking about the new Supreme Court ruling regarding the Growth Management Act and what that means to property owners. As part of that same session we are going to talk about the Ruckelshaus Center negotiations that are underway regarding county government and critical area ordinances under GMA. We are going to be talking about the five "Cs" of credit with someone from Northwest Farm Credit Services, new risk management tools with a Risk Management Agency representative."
A featured speaker will be former Congressman John Kasich. The convention kicks off Monday November 12th with the Farm Bureau Labor Conference. Go to www.wsfb.com for more information.
