FIRA USA in Yakima
From the Western Ag Network, I’m Bob Larson. If you are kind of a tech geek, FIRA USA is a three-day event coming to Yakima October 20-22 with the latest in high-tech changes for agriculture.Ines Hanrahan, Executive Director at the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission, says besides the farmers, there will be educational events for everyone …
HANRAHAN … “We will have a community open house where the city of Yakima can go and have a quick look of what all this about. And we also have one day dedicated to schools so schools can come with their students.”
This is not your average robotics show …
HANRAHAN … “It’s basically an all-around ag tech conference that serves a lot of community members. We even have one half day dedicated to the Spanish speaking audience. And all of this will happen at the Yakima Fair Grounds with a lot of live demonstrations and interactive activities.”
Hanrahan says FIRA USA is about the future of agriculture …
HANRAHAN … “The Tree Fruit Research Commission has been a big supporter of this conference because we do need to encourage tech companies to be more involved with bringing their technology actually to tree fruit or to agriculture in general. So, that has been our goal all along. We have been involved with FIRA USA from the beginning.”
