Washington Wine Auction. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
I love a good auction. I love good wine. Put the two together and you have a great time according to Deborah Daoust with the Washington Wine Commission.
DAOUST: The Auction of Washington Wines is the largest charitable event in the Pacific Northwest. This is its 20th year and it involves the entire wine industry and it's sort of the wine industries way of giving back to the community.
The Auction is a 3 day event which helps support a couple of good charities.
DAOUST: It's to benefit 2 things; uncompensated care at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center and also the Washington Wine Education Foundation which sponsors scholarships for the purposes of viticultural and enological education in the state.
This year's theme takes participants back to the good ole days.
DAOUST: The theme is the Roaring 20th Anniversary and their putting components from the 1920's into the different events so there'll be some lawn games that might have been played back then included in the event and then a really wonderful 3-piece jazz band is going to be playing at the event lots of, you know, 1920's and 30's and 40's jazz standards.
The event takes place August 16, 17 & 18 at various locations. More on the event Monday.
