Washington Ag December 26, 2006 Another sales closing date for federal crop insurance is coming up at the end of January. Dave Paul of the USDA Risk Management Agency regional office says that deadline applies to the Adjusted Gross Revenue Pilot Program.
Paul: "Which is available in three isolated areas of the Pacific Northwest, the Treasure Valley of Idaho, central Washington and the Willamette Valley of Oregon. That sales closing date is January 31st of 2007 for the 2007 insurance year. And then the AGR Lite program, which is available in every county of the Pacific Northwest, the sales closing date on that product, which is very similar to AGR but there is a coverage limitation of one million dollars on AGR Lite, the sales closing date for that is March 15th of 2007."
Paul says these revenue type policies have proven popular.
Paul: "We have 577 policy holders in 2006 in the Pacific Northwest and about $240 million worth of coverage under those gross revenue policies."
Paul says there was even a lot of discussion about the concept of those policies by wheat and barley growers at the recent Pacific Northwest Grains Conference.
Again the sales closing date for the Adjusted Gross Revenue Pilot is January 31st. For AGR Lite it's March 15th.
