11/01/06 A Post-Harvest Party for ag

Washington Ag November 1, 2006 The Washington State Potato Foundation is hosting its 2nd Annual Post-Harvest Party this Friday, November 3rd and over 200 people are expected to be in attendance. The Foundation's Kellee Balcom says the Mid-Columbia event is more inclusive this year. Balcom: "In year's past we've just the potato industry folks come and this year we decided there a lot of folks in this region that are coming off the end of harvest and so it would be a great opportunity to bring everybody together and celebrate what is great in the Columbia Basin." Balcom says this year's event will be at Terra Blanca Winery, a new facility in Benton City from six p.m. until midnight. Balcom: "It's kind of a fancy event. It is a full catered event with wine pairings as well as live music, dancing and then casino games for fun as well." All proceeds from the event will benefit grower education and training as well as underwrite scholarships for 10-20 students pursing degrees that will benefit the Washington agriculture industry. Tickets for Friday's Post-Harvest party are $250 dollars for couples and $150 for individuals and there are various other sponsorship packages.
