10/30/06 Oregon Cattlemen`s convention

American Rancher October 30, 2006 The Oregon Cattlemen's Association is holding its annual convention at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond this Thursday through Saturday. The Oregon CattleWomen, Oregon Trail Beef, Oregon Rangeland Trust and Oregon Beef Council will also be holding meetings in conjunction with OCA's convention. OCA executive director Kay Teisl says the trade show has over 40 exhibitors and things kick off with the Cattlemen's College. Teisl: "We'll be talking about winter nutrition, Type 1 & 2 BVD and body condition scoring and intake modifying technology." The Public Lands Round Table is scheduled for Thursday evening. The open forum is one of the most popular events at the convention as it facilitates idea exchange between ranchers, public land managers, attorneys, academic specialists and state and federal agencies. Teisl says OCA committees will be dealing with several policy issues. Teisl: "We will be addressing the brand program and their fee increases. We will be talking about animal ID. Developing a policy on that as well as the wolf committee will be developing legislation."
