**The California Farm Bureau and other advocacy groups joined in a letter asking for $30 million in the 2026-27 state budget to fund California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Wolf Program.

The groups have been successful in pushing to fund the Wolf-Livestock Compensation Program at $5.3 million since 2021.

Last year, ranchers saw a significant increase in livestock depredations by wolves, which are protected under state and federal law as endangered.

**The Supreme Court agreed Friday to hear an appeal from Bayer to block thousands of lawsuits claiming it failed to warn people that its popular weedkiller could cause cancer.

www.agrimarketing.com reports the justices will consider whether the EPA’s approval of Roundup without a cancer warning should rule out the state court claims.

Some studies associate Roundup's key ingredient, glyphosate, with cancer, although the EPA says it’s not likely carcinogenic when ‘used as directed.’

**State officials are warning livestock producers after a confirmed case of New World screwworm was found about 215 miles from the Texas border in Mexico.

The parasitic pest, which can cause serious livestock injury and economic loss, was detected in a 7-year-old cow.

Texas Ag Commissioner Sid Miller says there’s no evidence the pest has established a breeding population, but producers along the border should inspect animals daily and report suspicious cases immediately.
