“Farmers for free trade has hosted the motorcade for trade, which has been a two month listening tour we started in Nebraska, and we've wrapped throughout the Midwest and up into the New England states and Washington, DC on the National Mall. So we've driven over 8000 miles. We've had meetings with dozens of members of Congress and hundreds of farmers and farm ag businesses talking about trade and really listening to how farmers are doing and what they need to see in order to do even better.”
He outlines the group's goals and explains how the feedback gathered from this campaign will be used to shape future trade policy discussions and strengthen support for free trade in agriculture.
“Our goal has really been to take the voices of farmers and communicate those to Congress. You know, Congress has the constitutional authority over trade, and we really want to see Congress play a more active role in trade. So from this tour, we've obviously met directly with members of Congress. We're delivering to them our findings of what we've heard from the harvest listening tour.”
