Water Grants, Farm to School, and Farmer Wellness Initiatives
In Florida, Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson has opened applications for the Agricultural Regional Projects Program, offering $25 million in grants for regional projects that improve water quality and quantity. The program focuses on reducing nitrogen and phosphorus, promoting innovative nutrient management, and building partnerships to protect Florida’s water resources. Applications are open through November 7, 2025, at FDACS.gov.In Alabama, Governor Kay Ivey has proclaimed October as Farm to School Month, celebrating partnerships between local farmers and schools. Since 2020, schools have spent more than $3.7 million with Alabama farmers, serving over 8.5 million meals featuring local products.
And in Georgia, CareSource and the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture have announced a $100,000 investment to expand farmer mental health programs, training community leaders, launching youth wellness pilots, and strengthening peer support networks statewide.
