The Mosaic Company just relaunched its Foundation as The Mosaic Company Foundation for Sustainable Food Systems, sharpening its focus on farmer-led initiatives for boosting yields, improving soil health, and protecting water.
Mosaic’s Adam Herges says it’s a really a farm-centric program designed to bring in expertise that a farmer doesn’t have access to on a day to day basis.
Herges… “ Here in the US you have an ag retailer that is a trusted advisor, but that's really focused on the agronomic side of the equation and how to produce more bushels. And how do you weave in some of these conservation practices and how is it gonna impact the farmer's bottom line? And so what we're doing is providing additional technical expertise to work alongside those farmers to figure out if they're having limitations in food production. What are the factors and things that we can do to support not only their trusted advisor that works with them on a day-to-day basis, but offer them some additional insights and knowledge to help increase their bushels per field?”
The Foundation has granted nearly $50 million to help communities reach their full potential through agriculture.
