**The National Potato Council installed its 2025 roster of Executive Committee leaders recently at the organization’s annual Washington Summit.

During the Annual Meeting, Ted Tschirky of Pasco, Washington, was elected to serve as the Council’s President for the next 12 months.

A third-generation farmer in Washington’s Columbia River basin, Tschirky has served for over 20 years, first on the Washington State Potato Commission before joining NPC in a leadership role.

**Lori Stevermer, president of the National Pork Producers Council, testified before the Senate Ag Committee on the state of the U.S. ag economy.

Stevermer highlighted the top pork industry issue, California’s Prop 12, a state regulation posing an “existential threat” to all of U.S. agriculture.

She says we must fix the problems caused by Prop 12, which has increased farmers’ operating costs, created business uncertainty, and raised pork prices at the grocery store.

**National Farmers Union President Rob Larew reacted after EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin upheld the April 28 implementation date for year-round ethanol sales in the Midwest.

Family farmers and ranchers outside the Midwest also look for federal guidance to build year-long markets for E15 and higher blends.

Larew says NFU is proud to support the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act that was reintroduced in the Senate and the House.
