**Senate Ag Chair John Boozman says he hopes to hold a farm bill markup on Thursday as negotiations continue on key provisions.
The Arkansas Republican says discussions are ongoing with Senate Ag Ranking Member Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.
With the ongoing absence of Senator Mitch McConnell, Boozman could need Democratic support to advance the legislation.
Discussions include delaying the SNAP benefit cost-share requirement that begins in 2028.
**The USDA will recruit transitioning service members and military spouses into mission-critical careers that protect America’s food supply, rural communities, and the nation’s ag security.
The initiative combines two major efforts to expand opportunities for military talent: an expanded partnership with the U.S. Department of War’s SkillBridge Program and the launch of USDA’s 100 Hires in 100 Days initiative.
USDA says their leadership, operational experience, and commitment to mission make them uniquely qualified.
**Dairy leaders from the U.S. and Mexico concluded the 2026 U.S.-Mexico Binational Dairy Summit last week, reaffirming shared priorities on trade, innovation and the future of dairy farming against the backdrop of negotiations related to the USMCA.
The groups adopted a new shared principle recognizing the importance of supporting the next generation of dairy farmers in both countries through the exchange of information and experience while creating new opportunities to collaborate.
