08/31/06 Food & Wine

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today is food and wine pairing day. Like many of us, I have put on a few pounds, as I have gotten older. Since giving up wine is not an option for me I have come to a compromise that seems to be working for me. Yes, it is oh so true that I have been guilty of letting my weight get out of hand. Every diet I look at is nasty sounding and recommends no alcohol, translated, no wine. Well that is simply not an option. So I took matters into my own hands and recently I have been cutting out other things that are turning out to be the real culprits contributing to my weight gain. Things like processed white food and snack foods like chips and crackers. I haven't given up my wine, I haven't exercised more yet I have lost nearly 20 pounds. I eat a good deal more fish and chicken breasts and I have found that eliminating most of the starch from my diet is the key. I rarely have bread or rice, unless it is brown, and then only a small amount. The focus of my dinner is meat, the vegetables and the wine!
