Tim DeMaas and an old college buddy joining him up in Alaska. Fly into the hunt with rafts and off they go on a great adventure. We flew our two rafts and the two of us into the Sakhalin River and landed at a little airstrip there, and then started the raft trip down. And my buddy got a nice moose, and I got a couple of caribou, and out went to the location to get pulled out by the airplane, and we were actually a little bit short of it. And we got up that morning and it was some snow on the ground, and we didn't go out hunting that morning, and we had the meet by the raft, and I was actually calling and it was about for a moose because they were writing at the time, and I was calling for a moose about every, I don't know, 4 or 5 minutes. And then pretty soon this bull moose opened up across the river, and fortunately I was able to get my rifle and shoot him, and we rafted over and got him. Speaker1: Did you shoot him while he's in the water? Speaker2: No, he just came up. He came out. There was a beaver pond across the river and some trees, some willows. And he came out through the willows right on the edge of the river. So I shot him and I wrapped it over about as easy as it gets. So that was a great trip. We really enjoyed it. We ended up rafting down the river a ways and got taken out by aircraft. That was actually my second trip. I had moose hunted in Alaska. Speaker1: One of the ways that good hunters get rewarded go to Alaska.
