Speaker1: For California Ag Today, I'm Mike Stephens, stable and consistent market access is needed for success in the stone fruit industry and in the Asia Pacific market. Caroline Stringer, Trade Director of the California Fresh Fruit Association, explains the need for stability.

Speaker2: Why it's important is stone fruit from California does not have market access in every country around the world. Our industry members are still fighting through CFFA, working very hard with USDA to open up new markets for us. And it's important to have stable and consistent market access so that when you have a bigger crop than usual, you've got places to go with the fruit. And one of the things that we've seen just over the past two years with trade disruption in China and then trade disruption because of Covid, you see that more and more that stable and consistent market access is really key for any agricultural commodity. So this is a big step forward for the industry. And the CFFA is continuing to work on market access, not just in Japan for stone fruit, but other countries, especially in Asia Pacific, because that's that's going to be where they can be successful. Again, we have the best fruit in the world and we want to be able to share those with the consumers in those markets.
