BL: Welcome back to another “Fruit Bites” brought to you by Valent U.S.A. Joining us once again is Valent’s Allison Walston. And this week Allison, we are talking about watching out for harvest equipment while out driving.

AW: It is harvest time and will be for the next few months. I know it can be annoying to get behind tractors or trucks hauling fruit bins, while driving.

BL: what are some tips for driving safe during harvest

AW: Valent takes safety very seriously. If you are driving near any agricultural field or orchard, be prepared, slow down, watch for ATV’s, tractors, employees & their cars, people walking with ladders and especially trucks with fruit bins. Allow for extra room about 4 seconds between vehicles and watch the road ahead about 15 seconds into the distance.

If behind a tractor, wait so they can see you. Basically, make eye contact with them. They know they are holding you up & will pull aside and wave you on when it’s safe. Watch out for impatient people behind you and always leave a way out as not to get hemmed in.

BL: Well, thanks Allison. Join us again next time for Fruit Bites, brought to you by Valent. Until then, I’m Bob Larson.
