I’m Bob Larson. In a year of firsts, the Washington Policy Center has announced that this year’s “Farm Hall” will be held virtually to maintain the health and safety of the participants during the pandemic. And, instead of different Farm Halls held in different locations, this year’s will be held once, on Thursday, October 22nd.

WPC’s Pam Lewison says as for the topics of discussion …

LEWISON … “This year, because we’re virtual and we don’t have a region that we’re visiting, we are going to talk about all sorts of hot topics. This year is unique so we’ll be, of course, focusing on ag labor because it’s been on everybody’s plate.”

And, Lewison says other topics of regional importance …

LEWISON ... “We’ll also be talking about wildfire mitigation. We’ll talk some about predator management. And, the big question for everybody going into the fall and into the winter is, of course, the legislative session for 2021.”

That, Lewison says will be farm and ranch Olympia-style …

LEWISON … “Farm and Ranch friendly. We’ll, of course, talk about carbon taxes to see if they’re might be a hint whether or not we’re going to have any and we’ll also talk about the potential results of the H-2A panel that was convened during the last legislative session.”

Lewison says mark your calendar for October 22nd and sign up early, and then pull up your most comfortable chair for a Farm Hall like no other.

Listen tomorrow for more.
