With today's Fruit Grower Report, I'm Bob Larson. August is here and that means it's Washington State Wine Month when wineries, winemakers, restaurants and events all celebrate the fantastic wine industry in our state.

Washington State Wine's Heather Bradshaw says the month is filled with wine activities, but one in particular helps make it all possible ...

BRADSHAW ... "The Action of Washington Wine is the pinnacle event here in Washington in the month of August. It's a huge celebration of all things Washington state wine. And, of course, it benefits Seattle's Children's Hospital and the WSU Viticulture and Enology programs."

And, Bradsaw says, the three-day event is coming up next week ...

BRADSHAW ... "It is August 15th thru 17th and there's multiple events so I encourage you to go on their website and find out all about it."

Bradshaw says the auction has a full schedule of events ...

BRADSHAW ... "The Auction of Washington Wines is the largest fundraiser in the state of Washington that's focused on the wine industry. It's a great, great event. The winemaker picnic is always one of the best events of the year and one of the largest as well at Chateau Ste. Michelle, so it's not to be missed."

Bradshaw says go to wamonth.com for a full calendar of events and follow on social media ...

BRADSHAW ... "Everyone can follow along with the Wine Month activities too on social media by using the hastags #WAwine and #NewEpicenter and #WAWINEMONTH

2019 marks over 20-years of Washington Wine Month celebrations for a now $6-billion-dollar industry that's grown to nearly a thousand wineries.
