12/22/05 Unpasteurized milk sickens children

It confounds me how culturally elite parents who pride themselves on providing the latest technical gadgets for their children will forsake all logic and science when it comes to feeding them. Especially alarming is a recent incident involving six children between the ages of five and fourteen who became violently ill after drinking unpastuerized milk from an organic farm. Last week three remained hospitalized , two in intensive care. The raw milk carried the required warning label : "This product has not been pasteurized and may contain harmful bacteria. Intersesting that these same parents didn't turn to holistic treatments to save their children rather they want them in receiving the best medical technology in the ICU ward . Why don't they require it of their foods? Louis Pasteur who developed pasteurization was ready to leave the dark ages behind, He considered himself a humanist, always working towards the improvement of the human condition, and he would be appalled that 150 years latter some parents willingly return to it.
