California Ag Education Grants Open, But Deadline Is Approaching
What does a California license plate have to do with the next generation of agricultural leaders? Potentially quite a bit.The California Department of Food and Agriculture is accepting applications for its latest CalAgPlate grant program, with approximately 230 thousand dollars available for agricultural education and leadership activities.
The funding comes from the sale of agriculture-themed specialty license plates through the California DMV.
Eligible applicants include agricultural education programs, government agencies, and nonprofits that administer agricultural education programs.
And the opportunities aren't limited to high school students. Funding can support agricultural education at the K-through-12, post-secondary, and adult education levels.
Since the program began, CalAgPlate grants have provided more than two and a half million dollars for youth educational activities.
But interested organizations will need to act quickly. Applications are due Monday, November second, at nine in the morning Pacific Time.
Program details and application instructions are available at cdfa.ca.gov/calagplate.
