SAM GODWIN ... "Well, this is our 112th Annual Meeting, and basically we're getting together, this is our kind of our premiere education and outreach activity of the year where we try and put together programs for all the growers around the state to give them a chance to learn about all the new things that are going on around the world."

Grower, Sam Godwin is on the Washington Tree Fruit Association board and says they expect 2-to-3-thousand people to attend ...

SAM GODWIN ... "We'll have, obviously, the grower communities from the people that grow apples, pears and cherries, around really Washington, Oregon and Idaho are the primary people here, but we'll get people from Michigan and New York as well."

Godwin says this year's theme focuses on something every industry faces ...

SAM GODWIN ... "This year's theme is about change. So, we'll be talking a lot about impending changes that all of our industries are facing. Whether that's labor regulations and changes, or food safety and some of those things that are coming from FISMA, there's a session on that. So there's several session that will highlighting various changes that are either happening or in the process of happening."

The Tree Fruit conference goes on Monday thru Wednesday in the heart of Washington's tree fruit orchards at the Convention Center in Wenatchee.
