Free Market Dairy Cow Seminar For Dairy Producers

Free Market Dairy Cow Seminar For Dairy Producers

On July 19th, Colorado dairy producers are invited to learn more about market cow carcass value and quality and will provide practical insight on increasing the value potential for market dairy cows. Colorado Beef Quality Assurance Coordinator Libby Bigler provides more details
Bigler: “We’re going to have full day of workshops really targeted at dairy producers in Colorado. Dairy cattle or dairy beef makes up about 20 percent of the beef supply and of that a large portion is actually dairy cull cows. Once they’re done milking they go into the beef supply. This workshop is target at ways to improve dairy beef and giving perspectives to dairy producers. It will be held at the JBS headquarters in Greeley. We’re going to start at 8:30 in the morning. We will give an opportunity to tour the JBS beef plant. It is not actually a cow plant, it is a fed plant but it will give dairy producers an opportunity to go through the process and see what it is involved when cows become beef. Then we will come back and provide lunch and we have a full afternoon of workshops.”
The workshop is free, but Bigler asks those who plan to attend to RSVP by July 1st. She continues with more details on how to register
Bigler: “You can RSVP online, if you go to www.cobqa.org and then under the events tab there is an event listed for this Market Dairy Cow Workshop and you can register there.”
This event is sponsored by JBS, the Colorado Livestock Association's Dairy Council, Colorado Beef Quality Assurance, Western Dairy Association and the Colorado State University Department of Animal Sciences.
