Continuing Update on Winter Wheat Conditions

Syngenta's Agronomic Service Representative Jeff Hopp says now is the time to be considering weed management in winter wheat fields.

Hopp: "Growers really need to start looking at herbicide options that they are using and be sure they aren't using herbicides that is restricted on when they can apply it. In our tool box at Syngenta we have several different herbicides that can go both on the dryland acres and irrigated. Focusing more on the drylands acre we have a herbicide called Amber. Amber is an excellent residual and contact herbicide and can have tank mixes of other herbicides added with it. Amber can control over 50 plus broadleaf leaves weeds as well as and four grasses. Italian Rye grass and cheat grass are pretty problematic in our drylands fields. So it can be an option as well as that ability to mix with fungicide. Then another herbicide broadleaf to go on the irrigated acres that really h\opens up crop rotation is Orion. Orion has 28 plus broadleaf weeds it can controls. And if you mix it with Axial Star you get excellent gramaticide going after the grasses plus the starring component go after really difficult weeds like Kosha."
