Considering AgriTourism on Your Farm or Ranch?

There are many aspects to consider and research, if your family is considering adding an agritourism enterprise to your farm or ranch. There are many, many elements to think about and discuss prior to beginning such a venture. The Colorado Agritourism Association is a wonderful resource for those who are either considering or are currently participating in agritourism across the state. The organization is just about a year old. Director Kelli Hepler shares the mission of this organization
Hepler: “Our mission statement is empowering Colorado producers to build and diversifying economic strength through agritourism.”
If you are interested in learning more — there are three regional events in the next several days that will share a wealth of information with attendees. Tomorrow in Eads, Wednesday in Greeley and then Thursday in Brighton. Although each meeting will vary — they will include local experts and representatives from across the state address topics such as how to monetize your agritourism or heritage business, insurance, zoning, marketing, public relations, tax credits and more. Hepler continues with some of the resources available on their website coloradoagritourismassociation.org  
Hepler: “There are resource pages on there that has that checklist for assessing your property. It has something on developing a farm stay. Some safety tips and several pdf handouts that they can download and peruse at their convenience.”
