Grape Society Annual Meeting

Grape Society Annual Meeting

Grape Society Annual Meeting. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

The 2015 Washington State Grape Society's Annual Meeting and Trade Show takes its bow on November 12th & 13th, 2015. Madi Clark is the Executive Secretary for the Grape Society and she talks about this years event.

CLARK: This year the board decided to make the Thursday program focus on water because a lot of our growers are coming off the Roza Irrigation District and even then they're either off the Sunnyside Irrigation District so both areas that are struggling with water right now and so they felt that the most relevant issue to talk about would be, first of all, water and then second of all how do we manage grapes under water stress.

There will be pesticide credits offered again this year as well as a lot of return exhibitors.

CLARK: We're going to be speaking about relevant issues to them. The board has worked hard to pick speakers that can help these growers know one, how to manage grapes under water stress but two, what to look forward to for next year.

They will have presentations from Ag Weather Net, WSU and the Columbia Snake River Irrigators Association plus there will be a couple awards handed out.

CLARK: This year's award recipients we're keeping hush-hush but we have the Walt Clore Award which goes to someone who's been active in the grape industry as either a friend or an active grower and the our Lloyd H. Porter Award will be given to a grower of the year.
