The US Roundtable for Sustainable Beef

Along with 43 other industry leaders throughout the beef value chain, the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association will be a part of the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef whose objective is to support and communicate continuous improvement in sustainability of the U.S. beef value chain.
Colorado Cattlemen’s Association Executive Vice President Terry Fankhauser shares why his organization’s leaders were determined to be a part of this organization from the beginning.
Fankhauser: “The thing that I would say to producers and we are saying to our membership now, is while the discussion around sustainability and the term sustainability creates a sense of unease in most producers; it is always better to be scenario to be engaged in the formatting those discussions in a go-forward basis as opposed to standing back and chucking stones. Because the only thing you get when you throw stones is stones thrown back. I think that by being at the table, there will be a lot of give and take. I honestly believe our partners in the retail segments are very interested in us taking ownership of this throughout the beef production supply chain and will be very supportive of it.”
Other Western beef organizations who are participating are the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association, AgriBeef Company, JBS USA, and Simplot Livestock Company.
