National Potato Council is Legislative and Regulatory Watch Dog for Potato Industry

The National Potato Council President, Dan Lake from Ronan, Montana, shares the critical purpose of his organization and the difference it makes for the potato industry.
|Lake: “Well, for the growers, the National Potato Council is their watchdog over the legislative and regulative things that are happening in D.C. It is so important that we have an organization like this to monitor and keep track of this legislative and different things that are coming down the pike. To lend a voice of reason, and a voice of science and facts. To try and dispel some of the emotional and political maneuvers that tend to happen in our legislative group.”
The very best way for potato growers to learn first hand of the NPC activities on behalf of the industry is to participate in the D.C. Fly which happens February 23rd through the 26th. Lake encourages growers to attend.
Lake: “The voice of the growers is so important because that is what the Congressman and CongressWomen listen to. It is somebody who came from home, from the farm, from their home state and sitting there with them with these important issues. It is just a very powerful way to accomplish getting our message out.”
