Water Leader Award

Water Leader Award

Water Leader Award. I'm Greg Martin with Colorado Ag Today.

Water is a crucial part of Colorado agriculture and the Colorado Water Congress likes to give credit where credit is due. John McClow, the immediate past president of the Colorado Water Congress Board says this year's Aspinall Award has gone to Bill Trampe, a life-long Gunnison Rancher and Colorado water advocate.

McCLOW: Well Bill has been a leader in water issues in this community and in the region and in the state for many, many years. He's been active in lots of different roles. He was on the board of directors of the Upper Gunnison Water Conservancy District. He's currently the Gunnison Country Director on the Colorado River Water Conservation District Board. He was active in negotiating the Colorado River Cooperative Agreement which is a historic agreement between Denver Water and 34, I believe, West Slope entities.

The prestigious Wayne N. Aspinall Award is given annually to a Coloradan who has long demonstrated courage, dedication, knowledge and leadership in the development, protection and preservation of Colorado water. McClow talks about the CWC.

McCLOW: Colorado Water Congress is a member driven organization. It represents every water interest in the state. Municipalities, industry, utilities, environmental groups, recreation groups. Every person who has an interest in water and its use in Colorado is invited to join. We have, I think, 400 members.

And that's Colorado Ag Today. I'm Greg Martin, thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network of the West.
