H-2A Web Series

I’m Lacy Gray with Washington Ag Today.

The Washington Farm Labor Association will once again be hosting one hour webinar training sessions the first three Tuesdays in October. WAFLA’s Kim Bresler says the sessions will focus in detail on the H-2A program.

BRESLER: There are different situations and things that occur to people that are using the H-2A program. We’re going to start off with managing workers comp claims specifically for H-2A users. The foreign workers have to leave the country through their visa restrictions and it’s very, very important to keep the claim moving along so it’s taken care of. There’s a special claims unit and procedures that need to be followed and we’re going to tell all about that.

The October 7 webinar will be presented by Lori Evans, L&I Operations Manager in Claims Administration of Washington State Department of Labor & Industries. WAFLA’s Dan Fazio will be leading the October 14 session, which will cover how to be prepared for agency inspections and a new on site compliance audit service WAFLA is offering. The final webinar on October 21 is titled “Anatomy of a Lawsuit”.

BRESLER: It’s basically what to do when you get that demand letter from the legal services provider - how should you respond, what are the steps you can take to avoid litigation. We’ve got a great presenter, Kristin Ferrera, Principal of Jeffers, Danielson, Sonn and Aylward, PS. presenting on that topic.
