**The Trump administration will release about $3 billion in assistance to farmers despite the government shutdown.
Administration officials told CBS News, the USDA resumed operations yesterday at the Farm Service Agency, which runs financial assistance and loan programs for farmers.
A USDA spokesman says President Trump is committed to supporting America's farmers and ranchers and this action will release billions in assistance for farmers that Democrats have held up for three weeks.
**There’s a crisis in U.S. farm country as recent trade policies and reactions from other countries have wreaked havoc on our commodity markets.
Crop prices are plummeting, input costs are projected to reach record levels, and the number of farm bankruptcies is rapidly rising.
The National Farmers Union urges everyone to tell Congress and President Trump that family farmers need immediate economic assistance and reforms that restore fairness in U.S. agriculture.
