Hydrogen Hype
I must be missing something! The announcement that Gov. Schwarzenegger will ask his state to invest $54 million to build a mere 100 hydrogen fuel stations leaves me befuddled. Why the hype over hydrogen! Can't be efficiency, a hydrogen vehicle needs refueling every 150 miles.. Can't be the emissions or the environment, you need coal to produce hydrogen, coal generates pollution and isn't exactly a renewable resource. So what's the problem with ethanol? As I speak sugar cane, and lots of it, is being converted into ethanol in Brazil. The Brazilians are flocking to buy flex-fuel vehicles and over 30 percent of all autos sold in the last two years run on an ethanol mix. To boot, Brazil now exports $500 million dollars of ethanol a year. But the best part of the ethanol mix is that the economic boom it has created for Brazilin farmers. I would hazard to guess that this scenario won't happen here unless our farmers unite to oppose the strong arming of big oil companies , I will gladly work with my farming friends to get them off their seats to control the streets. I'm Susan Allen with food Forethought.
