Ethanol mix Anyone who has listened to this program knows that I am absolutely convinced ethanol and farmers fueling America must be part of our future. Who wouldn't want to be free of our dependency on foreign oil, and who wouldn't want our farmers befitting from it. Despite strong arming by the big petro conglomerates, a Senate Committee recently approved legislation requiring refiners to use a 10 percent ethanol blend in gasoline by 2012, virtually doubling ethanol production and giving mid-West farmers a shot in the arm. Notice the emphasis on mid-West as they are well ahead of the ethanol curve promoting corn and soy as primary components. Out West dear Sen. Dianne Feinstein a California Democrat opposes this boon for our farmers and environment because it could initially add 2.4 cents per gallon. Did she miss her economic class on supply and demand? Schools like the University of Idaho have been instrumental in alterative fuel research using NW crops, despite or in spite of naysayer like Ms Feinstein's it is critical our Western farmers don't left out of this ethanol mix. I'm Susan Allen and this is Food Forethought. Source: ENN.com May 26 2005 Bill would double Ethanol Use in Gasoline to Eight Billion Gallons a Year.
