Women in Agriculture Conference Expands to Include Three States

This year's Annual Women in Agriculture Conference will be held in multiple locations across Washington, Idaho and Oregon - on the same day! That is Saturday, March 15th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This multiple site conference format brings the best of national and local speakers to easily accessible locations.

Washington State University Extension's Margaret Viebrock shares more details.

Viebrock: "We have 28 locations. We are anticipated about 700 women will be participating. The theme for the conference this year is, 'Change Happens -- Make it an Opportunity'. The registration fee to attend the whole day is $25. It goes to $35 after March 2nd. This includes breakfast, lunch, a book, and all of the conference materials that they will get the day of the conference. And so it is a good buy and the opportunity to spend the day with other women involved in agriculture besides getting a lot of information on change and how to make your farm operate more smoothly."

Viebrock says that the day will begin with all locations watching the keynote speaker, Heather Darby -- a seventh generation Vermont farmer. Then each site will have a panel of farm women talking about how they have dealt with change on their own operation. There will be a financial presentation as well as the opportunity to network with other women involved in agriculture.

She encourages women from all aspects of ag to participate

Viebrock: "Owner or you are brand new -- there's going to be something there that you can take home and immediately put to work and make your farm more successful."
