Weekend Weather & Net Farm Income

Weekend Weather & Net Farm Income

Weekend Weather & Net Farm Income plus Communication is Key. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

The holiday weekend may just bring some hot bargains of Black Friday but as we get back into the work week we may see some cold temps and wet weather. The National Weather Service reports there is a chance of rain and possible snow moving into the area on Sunday into Monday. If you are traveling this holiday weekend you may want to make some alternate plans or at least prepare for bad weather conditions especially in mountain pass areas. Temperatures are also expected to drop considerably along with the precipitation.

According to the latest report the 2013 Net Farm income is up from 2012. USDA Chief Economist Joe Glauber explains.

GLAUBER: Net farm income also includes net inventory changes so you can imagine in 2013 we're having a very large crop so farms at the end of 2013 are going to show very large change in inventory from where they were at this time last year because last year of course we had a big draw-down in stocks because of the drought. Because of that the net farm income is forecast at $131-billion. That a $17-billion dollar increase over net farm income last year. It also reflects a record nominal level of net farm income.

Now communication is key for ag leaders. Rod Bain has more..
