Giving Thanks

Giving Thanks

I’m KayDee Gilkey and welcome to Open Range. Here’s Greg with today’s report.

Thanks KayDee. Darcy Sexton is the Executive Director USDA Farm Service Agency in Pendleton, Oregon but she and her husband also cattle ranchers and do some AI cattle breeding. Sexton shares her life on the farm with her blog - Success is Reason Enough.

SEXTON: I had one post that went a little bit viral but for the most part I really just write it for myself. I mean I write it to look back and remember things. I really think of it as a scrapbook of our life.

One theme that goes through her blog is giving thanks.

SEXTON: I think Thanksgiving can be a day on the calendar or it can be a way of life. Ann Voskamp writes AHolyExperience.com and she challenges people that follow her blog to find three things a day to be thankful for and write them down whether it’s in a journal, whether it’s on a blog, mentally. And there’s a lot of studies out there that show if you are thankful and you’re cognizant about being thankful that’s really when being grateful and finding things to be thankful (for) matters.

Check out her blog at sscharolais.blogspot.com.

SEXTON: We’re thankful for the people we get to work with. I don’t know that you’ll find anybody in the ranching or the ag industry that you can’t find value in. I think there’s really good people, hard working and honest people in this industry and I don’t know that you can say that about a lot of other industries.

I’m Greg Martin and that’s today’s AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I’m KayDee Gilkey.
