USPB International Seed Symposium and Tour

The International Seed Symposium and Tour allows international buyers the opportunity to learn and see first-hand the high quality of U.S. seed potatoes. United States Potato Board International Marketing Manager Sarah Reece shares more

Reece: "The symposium provides an educational session for international participants to learn more about the U.S. industry and quality of U.S. seed potatoes. It provides to the U.S. participants insights into each of the international markets, potato industry and seed requirements. Not only does the seed symposium serve as a learning experience for all attendees, but it also builds the buyer-seller relationships that are so important to international sales and it provides an opportunity for international buyers and U.S. growers to talk one-on-one. Following the international seed symposium, all of the international attendees departed to visit California, Idaho and Wisconsin to tour growing areas. During the state tours, participants saw fields, storage and packing facilities. The group also learned about U.S. breeding programs and met with certification officials to learn about U.S. seed certification and how photo-sanitary certificates are issued. The international importers and buyers were happy with the information they received during the tour and with the opportunity they had to meet with different U.S. seed potato growers."
