Paying Attention to Biofuels

Paying Attention to Biofuels. I'm Greg Martin with today's Line On Agriculture. The biofuels industry has not been idle over the recent Congressional break and they took some time out to talk to reporters about what we might have missed and what to keep our eyes on this fall. Bob Dinneen, President and CEO, of the Renewable Fuels Association says he spent the break visiting with people about the industry. DINEEN: But everywhere I went this August I saw another argument against big oil's misleading narrative against the RFS. The first thing you would see as you were driving around the Midwest this year was one heck of a lot of corn. You know there is always uncertainty this time of year as to exactly what it's going to look like and I think the bottom line is we're looking at a huge crop this year. Certainly enough to meet the demands for feed and fiber and indeed fuel across the country. He says that it is really undermining the big oil's cry of food versus fuel. DINEEN: Over the last several weeks USDA has been out with reports that have demonstrated how low food inflation is. Even the UN's FAO has indicated that food inflation is extraordinarily low and across the globe they are looking at a record cereal production crop as well. So it's not just here in the United States. Dineen was joined by NCG's Paul Bertles and Growth Energy's Tom Bius. That's today's Line On Agriculture. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
