Virtual Food Bank

Virtual Food Bank

Welcome to Open Range, I’m KayDee Gilkey. Stay tuned because after the break I’ll check in with our field reporter, Greg Martin for the AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks KayDee. Jenifer Johnson with the Idaho Food Bank says a new idea in giving is catching on.

JOHNSON: The virtual food drive is an opportunity for people to support the Idaho Food Bank in a way that they can go online through idahofoodbank.org and by participating in a virtual food drive they can support our fundraising and food drive efforts. It was created for those folks and those businesses who wanted to conduct a food drive but didn’t really have the physical facility that made that possible.

She says they have a page set up to support the Beef Counts program as well.

JOHNSON: We take all cash donations that come in for Beef Counts that are designated for that effort and on a quarterly basis we work with AgriBeef to purchase roasts through them and then those roasts are distributed through our partner network and given away for free to families in need.

And Johnson says the Beef Counts program has been a great opportunity for the Food Bank.

JOHNSON: To work with Idaho’s ranching families and beef producers and wonderful partners like the Idaho Cattleman and the Beef Council, and we’re really enjoyed the opportunity to find a way to provide a nice healthy beef protein to families in need.

I’m Greg Martin and that’s today’s AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I’m KayDee Gilkey.
