"Meating" A Need

"Meating" A Need

All this week Washington farmers and ranchers have been “meating” the need of hungry families and seniors during the third annual Beef Counts Week. Teeming up with Second Harvest mobile food distributions, local farmers and ranchers have been personally handing out beef roasts to those in need. Speaking from the Beef Counts Week Mobile Food Distribution location in Toppenish the President of Washington Beef, Brad McDowell talks about their involvement in Beef Counts.

MCDOWELL: Washington Beef and Agri-Beef’s involvement in the Beef Counts Program for the last 2 1/2 years has been very important to us. Not only as a company, because it provides an opportunity to put high quality protein on the dinner plates of those who are in need, but for Washington Beef in particular. And I have a personal interest in that in that as President of Washington Beef and working in this community and knowing many of the people of this community it’s important that Washington Beef play a big role in providing to those in need and being intrical to the community because these are our friends and neighbors and in some cases our family. So I’m glad to be part of it, I’m glad that Agri Beef and Washington Beef are part of this and look forward to every year that we do this.

This week the Beef Counts Mobile Food distribution locations have been in Pasco, Toppenish, Ellensburg, and finish up today in Spokane at the Millwood Presbyterian Church from 11am to 1pm.
