Washington Organic Week

Washington Organic Week

Tilth Producers of Washington will be hosting the third annual Washington Organic Week September 9th through the 15th. Tilth Producers Executive Director Amy Besunder talks about why WOW was started.

BESUNDER: The purpose of Washington Organic Week is to connect consumers with their farmers and where their food comes from. The hope is that we can offer some opportunities for consumers to meet organic farmers, learn about the health benefits, and help people make better choices about where their food comes from.

Besunder shares some of WOW week’s highlights.

BESUNDER: On Monday we’re going to be doing a fabulous cooking demo class with Greg Atkinson at the Book Larder in Fremont and he is going to be using the freshest and locally available food to make a wonderful meal and to encourage other to make a wonderful meal. On Wednesday we’re going to be doing an organic home brewing and cider making class. Friday we get excited about beer and cider and chocolate at Theo Chocolates. Pretty much all the chocolate you could want, and we’re going to have Pike Place Brewery, Elliot Bay Brewery, Alpenfire Cider, and Sin River Cider.

The week wraps up on Saturday with First Annual “Under the Harvest Moon” Benefit Auction, where locally sourced foods will be auctioned off. All proceeds from WOW week events go to support the educational programs at Tilth Producers of Washington. For more information visit tilthproducers.org.
