7-30 SS Revoked Award
Take my name off the award please. I don’t want to be associated with a war on helpless animals.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation recently received a request from the family of Olaus Murie who is known as “the father of modern elk management” asking that his name be removed from a conservation award because the family objected to what they felt was The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s all out war on wolves. Mark Holyoak PR Director the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation “We received a letter kind of out of the blue from the Murie family, their father, a very well known and reviewed elk biologist, they asked us to consider removing their father’s name from an award that we have that we give to those who I respected in the science and research community specifically about elk biology. In that letter the son said that we had declared an all out war on wolves. We disputed that and granted the family’s request and removed his name. We do not and have not declared an all-out war on wolves we believe in proper management of wolves just as we do for lions, bears, deer, elk, antelope and otherwise. That is where we are. It is just a statement and a perception that is out there by some and is absolutely not true. For us it is status quo, business as usual and we are moving ahead just as we always have been.
