Viticulture Field Day

Viticulture Field Day

Viticulture Field Day. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

It’s field day time for the Washington State Grape Society. The Washington Viticulture Field Day in Prosser is set for Friday, August 10, begins at 8:30 a.m. at WSU-IAREC Research & Extension Station. This one day event is ideal for grape growers, industry personnel, legislators and anyone interested in commercially growing and producing grapes. Some of the topics of interest include: Retraining an ailing vineyard; Managing canopy gaps to minimize production loss; Nitrogen management in concords; Nematodes:  Biology, management and fumigation alternatives and others. The group will leave for their first stop at 9 a.m.  Transportation is not provided between field sites; carpooling is highly encouraged. Lunch is sponsored by the Society and then the afternoon session will kick off with a presentation of the Viticulture & Enology Extension, Research and Teaching program at WSU. On-site registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event at WSU-IAREC, Prosser.  A fee of $10 per person includes lunch.
