Like baseball players many equestrian sports have minor and major leagues and when horses retire they too can go on to lucrative second careers, think racing to jumping or in the case of our athletic head horse from saddle bronc to roping .This is Open Range, I’m Susan Allen, After the break I’ll be back a chance to be part of some young horses first trip to the big leagues this weekend in Ellensburg. The Bares and Broncs Event is Saturday at 6:30 at the Ellensburg Rodeo arena, I caught up with stock contractor Daniel Beard who explained what it is all about.
Daniel Beard
“Bares and Broncs is a showcase for young bucking horses. We feature the up and coming horses, four and five year olds that are really just beginning their rodeo career. They showcase their abilities and of course the cowboys that come to match up against that ability so it really does turn out to be a contest between horse and rider and also beneficial for the stock contractor who has spent years raising good bucking horses.
the action will be intense, and exciting to watch debut careers to see if some make it all the way to “ the show “ the NFR . Don’t miss the Bares and Broncs at the Ellensburg arena  6:30 this Sat. night 6:30pm. Children 12 and under free with adult
