Idaho Ranchers Rally To Fight Hunger

I love good ideas and great promotions meaning that I am all for what’s happening in restaurants throughout the Boise  area today. I’m Susan Allen inviting you to stay tuned for Open Range. So many fundraisers,in fact it seems every trip through the grocery checkout isle I am asked  to donate to something, it’s  all good,  but sometimes  I hate to admit, a little much. But when the Idaho Beef Industry wants to raise money to fight hunger, both the donor and  recipient end up being blessed.  If you want to, as the Idaho ranchers say, “Raise the Steaks” against hunger,   you'd better be thinking thick  juicy rib eyes, t-bones and tri-tips raised by Idaho’s ranching families and served up at  some of the Treasure Valleys  finest dining establishments like, Berryhill& Company, Castle Ranch Steakhouse, Lock Stock and Barrel, The Tavern at Bown Crossing , Jakers and Brick 29 Bistro (where I just have to add, my son was a waiter in college.)  I'll tell you I am about ready to drive the six hours to Boise for dinner tonight  not only for delectable dining but the fact a portion of proceeds from all the lunch and dinners served today will go to the Idaho Food Bank. The “Raise the Steaks Against Hunger” campaign created by the Idaho Beef Industry will  help provide free emergency food assistance to Idaho families through a network of community –based kitchens, shelters and church pantries. The idea for  “Raise the Steaks” came as a result of USDA data that found one  in six residents of Idaho has periodic lack of access to food. Idaho ranchers found this simply unacceptable thus  in pledging to make a difference they  have become  an example of stewardship for livestock groups throughout the nation to follow.
