CRP general sign up ends this week

Washington Ag Today April 12, 2011 This Friday, April 15th is the end of the current general sign up to enroll or reenroll land into the Conservation Reserve Program. Farmers and ranchers may offer eligible land for the program at their local Farm Service Agency county office.

FSA evaluates and ranks eligible land offered for CRP using the Environmental Benefits Index. That index looks at five environmental factors; wildlife, water, soil, air and enduring benefits, as well as costs. The land is ranked based on which would offer the greatest environmental benefits.

Again the general sign up ends Friday., April 15th.

Now the Stockland Livestock Report.

This is Jack McQuinness with Stockland Livestock here in Davenport. Ended up with 600 cattle on our market. Cows and bulls fully steady. The best of the cows in the mid to high 80s. Had a bull bring $1.07. A big Angus bull consigned by Timm Ranches up north at Okanogan. Most of the bull trade fully trade steady from 95 to the top of $1.06 caught most of the bulls. Feeder cattle fully steady. A lot of small consignments. Lot of small bunches but fully steady. Lots of local trade on these grass cattle as we get ready for turnout time. Big special next week. We will have cow-calf pairs We will have feeder cattle and all classes will sell. That’s Stockland Livestock here in Davenport. Thanks for listening. Thanks for your business.

Thanks Jack.

I’m Bob Hoff and that’s Washington Ag Today on Northwest Aginfo Net.
