Welcome to Vine to Wine, this is your host Linda Moran, and as many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine in my glass at the time. Because I just won't drink wine that I don't like.
Recently I held a wine tasting at my home and we blind tasted 5 whites and 5 reds trying to match the wine to it's description either from the back of the bottle or from reviews that we found on the internet. I didn't do very well, imagine my surprise. But I was pleased to see how well I enjoyed many of the wines that I had never tasted. One of those was a 1999 La Crema Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. It was richer than I expected and as the label suggested it was bright with fruit flavors of plum, black cherry and red raspberry. I would have this wine with food definitely roasted chicken or grilled pork tenderloin. Although I am not certain that this wine is still readily available through normal retail channels it would be worth a trip to the internet to hunt a few bottles down. A couple of other wines that were of note that evening were from Washington state, a Bernard Griffin 2001 Columbia Valley Syrah, and a Goose Ridge Vineyards 2001 Chardonnay. Those are my new favorite wines. I would love to hear from you - Please email me with your new favorites; at Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
