Move over Sam Elliot, and Mathew Mcconaughey you’ve got tough competition, maybe a new spokesperson for beef with a heck of a lot of star power. I’m Susan Allen, welcome to OpenRange when I return, the celebrity who said her vegan diet almost killed her. I’ve been out with our regions ranchers the past couple of weeks serving up beef at local grocery stores to,  in the words of the fired BP executive, “the common folk”. Let me tell you I have been inspired and impressed by the bevy of grandmother’s  I’ve met that baby-sit, car pool, and make sure their grandchildren have home cooked meals with beef. A celebrity mother who also gets help from her mom  with her brood of six recently told Fabiana Santana of  Ugo Entertainment that her extreme vegan diet nearly killed her. Angelina Jolie said she gave up eating red meat in an effort to be healthier, but that it actually resulted in malnourishment. (Remember the rumors of anorexia.) The actress and humanitarian went on to tell Santana that “a big juicy steak is her beauty secret. I love that!  Saying “seriously, I love red meat. I was a vegan for a long time, and it nearly killed me. I found I was not getting enough nutrition.”. Jolie also pointed out she  makes sure her children have red meat in their diets. It is  interesting it that we haven’t heard a peep about  Angelina’s passion for beef despite the constant press she generates, quite unlike the publicity Carrie Underwood receives for her anti-meat antics.
