Market Line March 5, 2010
USDA's new Conservation Security Program. I'm Greg Martin, this is Market Line.
A unique aspect for USDA's new Conservation Security Program is how it provides payments compared to traditional farm program payments. Greg Johnson of the Natural Resources Conservation Service explains how the new payment for performance model of the CSP works in a real world setting.
JOHNSON: Two farms side by side, they could actually end up with different payments in the stewardship program – look almost identical from the road but because maybe their existing conservation could be a little bit different and maybe because they chose to implement some new enhancements just a little bit differently, their actual payment then could be different.
