Tracking Safe Food

Tracking Safe Food. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Everyone these days is concerned about food safety and this has provided a good platform for technology. Angela Paymard, CEO, KPG Solutions Inc which is a premier provider of software, consulting, and hardware solutions for the fresh produce and food manufacturing industries says they work with all segments of the industry.

PAYMARD: We’ve had some recent food scares that have really made consumers question the safety of food in the U.S. So some of the biggest brands in the business and even our small growers have decided to step it up for the benefit of the consumer so today at KPG Solutions we’re offering products that assist growers, packers, shippers, wholesalers and even retailers to be able to supply the best and safest food supply to consumers.

She says a lot of industry members have come together to keep the food supply safe.

PAYMARD: Our trade associations, the Produce Marketing Association, the Canadian Produce Marketing Association and United Fresh Produce Association have all sponsored and endorsed the produce traceability initiative which essentially creates a standard by which all handlers of food can transmit data and information between their trading partners.

That program was put into effect over the last year and they have come up with a unique product.

PAYMARD: At KPG we’ve actually just announced our food safety, traceability and ERP offering. We are the first software company in the world to integrate these three features into a single piece of software.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
